Workers-volunteers

There were many workers in the process of making the library what it is today. It was hard work turning that nasty old building into a beautiful library. I can’t name all of the volunteers that helped but her are some:  Cheryl Gill ( our librarian), Ginger Patrick, Kenneth Wright  (carpenter), Nancy Wright, Saundra Burge, Orvin Caroll, (mayor), Dawn Craig (computer Whiz),  Even me. there’s probably dozens more, but I can’t name them all.So when you come in, and see the library, and the museum, think of all the people who made it happen.

Children’s Area

Childrens Area at the Alba Library and Museum

The children’s area started as a rocking chair, carpet, and stuffed animals! But after a board meeting we picked out color swatches for the Children’s Area furniture. Then a few months later the furniture finally arrived. We installed the furniture, and Boom we had the new, and improved Children’s Area!!!!

Behind The Desk

Librarian Extraordinaire

This is a behind the scenes look at the things that happen behind the desk to make  this library special.  Cheryl Gill, our librarian, does so much work. She catalogs, shelves books, and helps arrange special things for the library.  We all work together like a clock, to make it all happen.

Armed Forces Wall Of Honor

The Armed Forces Wall of Honor is a big wall in the museum in remembrance of all of the people who put their lives on the line for people they probably don’t even know! Even our very own mayor put his life on the line for us! Guess what even John Reid was in the military.   There are many more men who fought for us, I personally think that deserves some thanks so when you see a man who fought give them a simple thank  you, or a friendly handshake.

Museum

At first we were going to only have a library, but Saundra said we should put in a museum.  We went with the idea, and  that’s how  the museum got there. So when you walk into the museum, when you are standing there basking in it’s marvel, thank Saundra Burge.  We have an antique cast iron coffee grinder, Alba basketball trophies,   WWII sabers, and even an original antique 1927 model T ford!!   There’s so much more in there .  Come down and find out the history of our little town.

Patrick Spurlock’s Book Recommendation

I tend to read the classics.  White Fang is my favorite. Other favorites are:  The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Around the World in 80 Days and The Time Machine.  But that is only my opinion.  I say read whatever interests you.  A good book may be just around the corner!
